The 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Assistant Coaching (Multi Skills) focuses on the skills and competences required to be able to assist the delivery of multi skills coaching sessions, under the direct supervision of a more qualified coach. By the end of the qualification, learners will:

  • understand the role and responsibilities of the coaching assistant
  • be able to prepare the coaching environment
  • be able to assist with the delivery of coaching sessions
  • be able to assist with the review of coaching sessions
  • know how to support fundamental movement skills

We have supported the development of this qualification, working alongside 1st4Sport Qualifications.

Who is the course for?

This qualification is designed for:

  • Existing coaches who do not have a formal multi-skills qualification and wish to assist in coaching multi-skills as part of a wider coaching team
  • New coaches who wish to support the delivery of multi-skills activities under the direct supervision of a more qualified coach.
  • Existing and aspiring coaches in all sports. This qualification deals with the key fundamental movement skills which are essential to the development of sport specific skills.

 It is also ideal for:

  • Volunteers operating in a range of environments
  • Parent helpers
  • Physical activity leaders
  • Students
  • Officials
  • Teaching assistants.

What’s the value of this course?

  • This course explores movement skills which underpin all sport specific skills. Therefore, it is valuable to coaches in all sports
  • The skills gained can be used by coaches who coach in a range of environments such as sports clubs, schools (in curriculum and out of curriculum), leisure, activity camps, community settings, further and higher education.
  • It is a great starting point for someone who is taking the first step on their coaching journey
  • It is accessible - learning can be recognised to shorten the attendance time if coaches wish to take other recognised assistant coach / level 1 qualifications. It can also be used as a 'bolt on' for coaches that have a recognised assistant coach / level 1 in another sport
  • It is recognised as a regulated qualification, by 1st4Sport Qualifications.
  • The e-learning on it's own is worth 4 CIMSPA CPD points.

The course has an accessible learning format consisting of:
