Summary:
To carry out a feasibility study establishing a coordination function for sports coaching programmes across the City of Leeds.
Approach:
We firstly reviewed the working processes in place, current documentation and reports relating to the various sports coaching programmes taking place across the City.
Extensive consultation was then carried out across the City through focus groups, one-to-one interviews and email communication. To establish the current practices, in terms of purpose and scope of delivery, how coaches were trained, employed, deployed and supported by the various organisations providing coaching in Leeds.
Outcome:
We presented a report which concluded the review and consultation phase. We made recommendations for the development of a coaching system specifically designed to meet the needs of the city of Leeds. The team also produced an action plan to enable Education Leeds and Leeds City Council to progress the project, whilst addressing all of the requirements of a coaching system.
