Summary:

Sport Structures were contracted to develop the event bid for a World and European event in Dover for the summer of 2007

Approach:

Sport Structures extensively consutled with the sport to gain knowledge and understanding of the project. In addition UKSport were consulted as to the positioning of the event. The bid was constructed using the UKSport event planning model. An economic impact assessment was carried out including the establishment of a legacy programme linked to the Kent Count Archery society. An implementation plan and outline budget was established and local partners were identified for support to develop it into an event as oppossed to a competitor led competition.

Outcome:

The bid to FITA the international governing body was successful along with support from UKSport. The GNAS appointed an event company to project manage the event. The event took place in the summer of 2007.
